My yapping of the trade war after being to China 20+ times

This is my view of what is likely to happen, may not be soon but it is the likely outcome.
One thing I know for sure is that the American Consumers will be hit hard but the Chinese workers will be hit harder. The Americans are importing a lot more Chinese goods than the Chinese are American goods.

Arrow_ng : Besides the USA, China is a producer, and it can choose its customers. For example, when relocating to Europe, it ultimately just excludes the USA. The good thing about the Chinese government is that it cares about how its citizens live, which is different from the USA. This could be a distinction.

Ken Griffin Charity : A number of wrong takes here.
1. Both Americans and Chinese will lose jobs. It is likely that American jobs will be hit harder because unlike for China, Trump has set a 10% baseline tariff rate for ALL imports. This significantly increases the capex of every company and business that requires imports, and will likely resort to retrenchments to sustain themselves.
2. 6.3% of Chinese imports come from the US, while 16% of US imports come from China. China is far more capable of surviving without US goods.
3) Most crucially, China can cut deals with other countries around the world to increase Chinese exports to make up for any lost revenue from the US tariffs. But in the case of the US, Americans CANNOT get Chinese goods from anywhere else.
I don’t know why people are ignoring the part that the US set tariffs for 180 countries, while China only has to deal with America.
The simple advantage that China has is the NUMBERS. Even if America cut of ALL Chinese imports, that’s just 15% of all Chinese exports. It will hurt, but they can easily cut deals with other countries to buy their goods.
This isn’t the first trade war with China. Trump started a trade war with China in 2018. And what happened? Manufacturing never left China, and the trade deficit with China increased.
