Three government sources stated that India may allow foreign companies to Hold up to 49% of shares in its Nuclear Power plants. Currently, India is formulating plans to open this strictly controlled sector to help achieve its carbon reduction goals. Since 2023, the Indian government has been considering changing its foreign investment framework in the nuclear energy sector. However, as India seeks to replace carbon-intensive Coal with cleaner Energy, the demand to increase Nuclear Power capacity has become increasingly urgent. Investment in this sector could potentially drive tariff negotiations between India and the USA, although officials could not clarify whether this issue would connect to any trade agreements.
