10baggerbamm OP Unknown 168 : I'm not sure I understand what your statement is, if I go into Walmart obviously a very high percentage of everything on the shelves is made in China but yet the shelves are stocked. if I go on Amazon nothing says out of stock. if I look on TEMU they have local shippers within the United States I still see where inventory for most popular items are in stock ready to ship.
so exactly what are you referring to?

Unknown 168 10baggerbamm OP : I saw some reports, maybe referring to something that happened in a certain community, but I thought it was a big event, thats the tariffs caused many people to rush to buy, resulting in a shortage of Chinese goods. It's shocking!

10baggerbamm OP Unknown 168 : it's not a covid toilet paper mad dash or paper towel event however I think it's the following:
middleman resellers of Chinese goods I think have bought a lot of inventory because of the uncertainty that is resulting as of tariffs. how much will the prices go up well they are going up so why not stock up now so that you still have inventory to resell to your end customer.
additionally small items like people buy from TEMU and I'm a customer maybe once a month or so I buy something and I don't need it right away a couple of weeks is fine or Alibaba direct as an example it's 20 cents on the dollar compared to what it would be say in the United States at Walmart or Amazon.
I think the other reason why there may be middlemen resellers buying a lot prior to these tariffs taking effect has also to do with President Trump reversing the de minimis exemption for low-value imports from China and Hong Kong. This exemption previously allowed goods valued at $800 or less to enter the U.S. duty-free. The change, effective May 2, 2025, will impose tariffs on these shipments, including a 30% duty or $25 per item, increasing to $50 per item after June 1, 2025
so I think that pretty much addresses what you were saying at least in my opinion
