Airbus finalizes the long-awaited acquisition agreement for Spirit Aero.
European aircraft manufacturer Airbus and USA's Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems announced on Monday that they have reached a final agreement on the acquisition of certain Assets, marking a key progress in the restructuring case of this troubled transatlantic supplier. According to the agreement, Boeing will repurchase its Spirit Aero fuselage manufacturing business that it divested 20 years ago for $4.7 billion in Share Buyback, while Airbus will take over the company’s Europe-focused and ongoing loss-making business. Both companies stated in their respective announcements that Airbus will provide Spirit with a total of $0.2 billion in interest-free loans.
