The Nikkei average fell by 24 yen, continuing a slight decline, with selling ahead of the US stocks remaining weak but showing signs of resistance to further decline = 22 days before the market.
The Nikkei average on the first half of the 22nd day fell slightly by 24 yen and 21 sen to 34,255 yen and 71 sen from the previous day. On the other hand, the TOPIX (Tokyo Stock Price Index) rose slightly by 1.33 points to 2,530.26 points. In the US stock market on the 21st local time, both the Dow Inc and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell for the fourth consecutive day. In response to that movement, Japanese stocks also faced selling pressure from the morning, and by 9:44 AM, the Nikkei average had fallen to 34,109 yen and 85 sen, down 170 yen and 07 sen. However, after the initial wave of selling, it became a matter of trading outside of regular hours.
The Nikkei average rose by 291 yen, rebounding, with the Japan-US tariff negotiations not raising discussions on exchange rates, supported by a weak yen = at the front of the market on the 17th.
Seventeen days ago, the Nikkei average stock price rose 291.89 yen from the previous day, reaching 34,212.29 yen, while the TOPIX (Tokyo Stock Price Index) also increased by 18.97 points to 2,517.00 points, both showing a rebound. The Nikkei average reached 34,264.24 yen, up 343.84 yen, at 9:03 AM. The much-anticipated tariff negotiations between Japan and the U.S. saw President Trump post on social media that "there has been significant progress" following talks with Minister of Economic revitalization Akazawa. In subsequent ministerial negotiations, the topic of exchange rates was addressed.
