China Electric Power is a limited liability company registered in Hong Kong on March 24, 2004 in accordance with Hong Kong's “Companies Ordinance”, and is a core subsidiary of China's comprehensive energy group, China Power Investment Corporation, which also owns thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power and renewable energy resources. The Company's shares were listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on October 15, 2004, with stock code 2380. In addition to initially only being engaged in coal-fired power generation and electricity sales, the company's business has expanded into various fields such as hydropower generation, wind power generation, photovoltaic power generation, natural gas power generation, environmentally friendly power generation, energy storage, green electricity transportation, and comprehensive smart energy solution services. Various business segments have also continued to grow and develop as the Group continues to expand. As of December 31, 2014, the total consolidated installed capacity of the Group was 49,390.9 megawatts, of which the combined installed capacity of clean energy was 39,570.9 megawatts, accounting for 80.12% of the total consolidated installed capacity. The company is ultimately owned by the State Power Investment Corporation (a wholly state-owned enterprise established with the approval of the State Council of China). Driven by further comprehensive and deepening reforms and developing new productivity as an important focus, the China Power Investment Corporation is fully implementing the “balanced growth strategy” to become a competitive world-class clean energy enterprise in the world. The total installed capacity is about 260 gigawatts, of which clean energy accounts for 72.71 percent.
