Chrysler Parent Stellantis to Temporarily Cut 900 U.S. Jobs and Idle Canada, Mexico Plants

Chrysler parent $Stellantis NV (STLA.US)$ said Thursday that it will temporarily lay off 900 U.S. workers in Michigan and Indiana due to the company's plans to idle plants in Mexico and Canada following President Donald Trump's new tariffs.

Trump has imposed a 25% import duty on all cars made outside of the United States.

U.S. "Big Three" automakers Chrysler, $Ford Motor (F.US)$ and $General Motors (GM.US)$ all have tightly integrated manufacturing across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with cars and auto parts built in all three countries.
